What are Shutters?

Shutters are a type of window covering that usually consists of horizontal slats that can be adjusted to let in as much light as you desire. There are four main styles of shutters; full height shutters; café style; tier on tier; and solid shutters. Choosing between them comes down to personal taste and what you need from them.

Full Height Shutters

Full height shutters cover the full height and width of the window or door that its placed on. You can control how much light you want in the room by adjusting the slats or you can open it fully to let in the gorgeous sunlight in the room. These shutters look best on tall windows and on French doors as they open as one unit.

Café Style Shutters

Café style shutters are made to cover the lower half of windows. Perfect for those who want privacy in their home but love having lots of light in the room. The slats can be adjusted to let in as much light as you desire so you won’t be missing out from that with this design. Great for large windows by staircases or kitchens.

Tier on Tier Shutters

Tier on tier shutters are two sets of shutters that are operated separately on top of each other. You can choose to have a café style shutter on the bottom half of the window and solid shutters on top. Alternatively, you can do what is pictured and have two sets of café style shutters on top of each other. You get a lot more control out of your shutters and can match it to your personal needs and desires.

Solid Shutters

Solid Shutters

Solid shutters have panels that are made out of solid material. They’re ideal for bedrooms as they completely block out the light and help reduce outside noise. If you’re looking for something that can help you get a better night’s sleep – solid shutters are a great candidate.
